In recent days, we have learned that Giuliani, acting as a surrogate for Trump, has been in contact with one or more FBI offices, which have passed along information in an effort to steer the election to Trump. That Giuliani was a former political rival of Hillary Clinton, or for that matter once was a member of the Democratic Party, is not particularly important here. Let's assume that he really believes that for purely objective reasons he favors Donald Trump. What does this mean for our country?
The use of FBI-type organizations has always been one of the principal features of repressive totalitarian regimes. That they are or were designed to be totalitarian to begin with is questionable. But Trump, as we know, admires Putin. And there is no doubt but that Putin runs a still largely totalitarian regime. His use of the KGB is known. How it is used is perhaps unclear, but that is the purpose of secret police. But that he uses it for political ends is without a doubt factual and means that freedom does not exist.
While his supporters often contend that he does not mean what he says, there is conclusive evidence that he says what he means. If we elect Trump, he will prosecute Hillary Clinton, largely through an alt-Right book written by someone formerly with Breitbart. Yes, an entirely partisan book was used by the FBI for their information about a prosecution of the Clintons.
When combined by admiration of Putin and other matters, the ability to swing alliances towards Russia and away from Europe is present. Would most Republicans do this? Who knows. But what we do know is that foreign policy is largely a matter for the Executive Branch. Imagine who would be appointed as Secretary of State. Then imagine and entirely alt-Right world, from prosecution to statecraft to financial, in the hands of a man who has refused to make his tax returns public.
And imagine the type of people who will vote for Trump. Some, no doubt, are like the lady who said with the most vituperative tone available, "anyone who is a Democrat is not welcome at The Villages," the largest retirement community in the US.
Would any Democrat have said this? No. As has been seen since 2008, Republicans refuse to work with Democrats. While Democrats reach across the aisle, Republicans mock, insult and ignore Democrats. And any Trump supporter knows and supports this position.
So we end up with no choice at all. Not only are the 6% or so Democrats voting for Trump in Florida not really Democrats, they are certainly not like the 28% of Republicans voting for Hillary Clinton in Florida. Anyone who wants a Hitler or Stalin in place, vote for Trump. If you value freedom, vote straight Democrat on Tuesday.
Let Freedom Ring!
